Jiangsu authorities officially endorse the “Train the Trainers” certificate
From May 25th to 28th, the SWITCH-Asia Project “Train the Trainers” held a four-day training on external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS) based on mineral wool in Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu Province.
After the new Provincial technical requirements for the application of rock wool –based ETICS officially came into force in March, the main author Dr. XU Jingfeng was invited as a keynote speaker for this training.
Recently, more and more Chinese SMEs are active in this market, though often with limited knowledge on both the materials and their insulation. Hence, new training content on mineral wool has been added into the Project’s traditional curriculum. Tongji University Project Trainers combined the industry knowledge provided by the European Chamber with academic research conducted by IVL to produce this new. content which was well received by trainees, as witnessed by the lively discussions throughout the session.
Interactive exchanges took place both in the classroom as well as at the Project practical training ground. Some experienced trainees initially found it difficult to understand and accept the innovative systematic and strict insulation methodology. They raised questions with trainers about finish coat, anchors and node between windows and doors. Then, once they made a practical test themselves and checked the quality in the following day, they acknowledged the difference in quality and were fully convinced about better construction quality and materials.
Another item that was particularly highlighted, starting from the officials present at the event, was the Project high attention to safety equipment. At each and every training session, the Project in fact provides all trainees with a set of safety equipment tools. While providing advanced technical and informative know-how, “Train the Trainers” is also deeply committed in strengthening the understanding and application of safety procedures at work..
The training in Nanjing was organized by the “Train the Trainers” Project’s Jiangsu branch, led by Mr. WANG Xu and supported by the Project team. 26 managing-level trainees joined the training in April with many other already registered for the next training in Jiangsu which is planned for July.
The Project training has also been recently recognized by MoHURD’s Jiangsu Construction Committee as one of the officially endorsed training venues that certify construction workers on the latest compulsory ETICS regulations.
Leaders from Jiangsu MoHURD and Jiangsu Energy Saving Association had visited the Project training several times prior the launch of the certification and carefully checked the “Train the Trainers” quality. They appreciated the Project team’s working performance and a local industry association endorsed the Project certificate via its official stamp. Further to this first step of an official recommendation, the Project team expects a further increase of its labor certificate relevance across all industry stake holders, with the hope that a similar progress may then take place in neighboring Provinces and affiliated fields.
